About Us...

We met in 2013, you know how people used to meet, in a bar, dating for only a month. We then figured why not take it a step further and open a restaurant. If that's not the quickest way to see if a relationship will work I don't know what is.
We started our first restaurant Leo Burrito in 2014. After a few seasons of running Leo Burrito, we decided to grow and keep challenging ourselves. We bought Gerry’s Gelati in 2017 and changed the name to Stolen Church Gelato & Coffee.
After a couple of years of running both, we realized having two restaurants in a town that has very minimal staff, was a major challenge. We like to work, but the intensity of very busy summers was too much for us, so we sold Leo Burrito in 2020. It was a big decision, it’s hard to describe, in a way it felt like we were selling our whole relationship history, but it was definitely the right decision. Especially in these crazy times we have learned what’s most important: each other, our family and our friends.

The Stolen Church: A Love Story

In the year 1900, a man stole a church for his homesick wife. The doting husband dismantled it unnoticed. He then shipped the church in pieces via wagon, rail, and riverboat 185 kilometres to Windermere, BC, where it still stands today.
At Stolen Church Coffee, we love roasting as much as that man loved his wife. Even though coffee making has changed over the years, beans haven’t. To make our coffee we go to great lengths, micro-roasting the best single-origin beans that we can find.
